Our Team.

We have a fabulous team of counsellors at Chapters and between us we're able to bring a wealth of experience and training to our client work. We are all full of personality but very down to earth at the same time, we share professional knowledge wherever we can and we attend ongoing professional development training to to enrich our practice. We all have separate clinical supervision to support our work to enable us to provide the very best service possible to our clients. It's safe to say that we all love our work as counsellors!!

A little more about us...

Sharon Lawrence

Dip.Couns, L6 Cert Supervision,

Reg MBACP (SNR ACCRED)

NCS (ACCRED)

Sharon qualified as a counsellor in 2002 and began teaching counselling in the same year! She spent 7 years teaching in a local college before setting up Chapters in 2008. She is a military veteran having spent time in the QARANC (Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps) and has strong links with the uniformed services. She now balances running the business with seeing adult clients and couples, supervising other counsellors and supporting professionals in their roles through non-managerial supervision. She became BACP accredited in 2008 and Snr accredited in 2015.

Jane Dodds

Dip.Couns, MBACP

Jane qualified as a counsellor at the end of 2009 after being a student in Chapters' first ever Diploma group! Previously Jane had been a trainer in retail and had an ideal set of skills to bring to the Chapters training team as well as counselling! As well as working with adults, Jane is trained to work with children and young people and has a broad range of experience working with different ages and issues. She has also gone on to train in hypnotherapy which has proved to be a valuable resource for people who want something different to counselling to address their specific issues.

Michelle Cowling

Dip.Couns, MBACP

Michelle also qualified as a counsellor at chapters, completing her Diploma in 2019. She proved to be a fabulous asset to the team and completed her teacher training with us as well as maintaining an ongoing caseload of clients. She has now secured a brilliant counselling job with the NHS and we're sorry not to see as much of her at Chapters. Michelle has a very down to earth approach whilst being very warm and nurturing.

Tara Waugh

Dip.Couns, MBACP

Tara qualified as a counsellor in 2017 and has continued to juggle her 2 worlds ever since - 1 life as a brilliant hairdresser and the other as a wonderful counsellor! Tara enjoys working with adult clients but does also have experience working with children too. She constantly rises to the challenges that come her way in all areas of her work. Tara has an easy to talk to, calm presence which is very helpful in the counselling room!
