Chapters has proudly delivered CPCAB courses since our creation in 2008.  The courses are well structured with clear learning aims and we have excellent guidance from the CPCAB to support us as a centre and our students to achieve qualifications that are highly regarded and recognised in the world of counselling.

We are one of only a handful of CPCAB centres in the North East and are always happy to fly the flag for this vocational route of counselling training that is focussed on keeping the clients at the heart of our work. This ethos fits beautifully with Chapters' beliefs that whilst it is important to have academia in our profession, we are not primarily focussed on that.

It is important to have high standards and we certainly have those, however we put a lot of emphasis on skills and personal development in our training courses and that is one of the things that makes us stand out as training providers - we do support academic growth but really focus on the personal growth and development of our students to enable them to become the very best therapist that they can be with knowledge, passion, ethical judgement, skills, warmth and real compassion for clients.

We deliver our level 2 and 3 courses over 18 weeks each so both can be achieved in one academic year from September to July. Both courses include one Saturday that is a creative skills day. The date for that is always negotiated with the groups individually to ensure attendance.

Our Level 4 Diploma is delivered over 2 years and this is the qualification that allows you to work as a counsellor and become accredited with one of the professional membership bodies. There is no quick way of achieving this qualification, it's a big commitment and it is an incredible learning journey both personally and professionally but worth every moment. It is life changing and brings a whole new perspective on...well everything really. It's an eye and heart opener.

We don't believe in the university fee structures where students leave with professional qualifications (maybe) but a mountain of debt around their neck. We keep our fees so that the whole 3 years costs less than 1 year of university fees. We offer a monthly payment plan for students to make that as possible as we can for everyone. We are a private training provider so we don't receive any funding whatsoever, only our student's tuition fees so getting it right is vital for us. Happy students mean that we can continue and that has worked well so far!

We are also able to deliver the Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and the Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision, however at present we are focussed on the main counselling progression route. Covid-19 has side-tracked some of our upcoming plans for this year but we will embrace the other levels once we are back to full, safe capacity.

Attendance requirements are set by the CPCAB at a minimum of 80% but we always encourage our students to attend every session if possible as we cover so much each week. We do help by creating a buddy system to support your peer support within the group but it's never the same as being there!
