This qualification is intended for candidates who want to learn the skills to provide clinical supervision for counselling practitioners who are working with clients. It is an ideal training programme regardless of current status...those who have undertaken basic supervision training, those who have experience as a therapist who wish to extend their skills to becoming a supervisor, those who have evolved into a supervisory role without any formal training or those who wish to gain a high level, professional qualification to consolidate their learning and development and/or to formalise their skills.
The course will be based on the Person-Centred approach and beliefs but will draw from various models of supervision in order to give trainee supervisors a range of skills and techniques that can be used with supervisees.
In order to be considered for supervision training, students should hold the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (or equivalent) and must also have acquired two additional years of supervised clinical experience or the Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling plus one additional year of supervised clinical experience. If you have different qualifications please feel free to contact us and we will explore the equivalence.
It is now also recommended that students have at least 450 hours of counselling practise experience before enrolling on to this programme in order to have a sound experience on which to base their supervisory skills and theoretical understanding. If you do not have this amount of experience but are keen to undertake supervision training please ring and speak to us.
Please note that students will be required to complete:
15 hours of supervision to supervisees
and must also receive
5 hours of supervisory supervision from a suitable qualified and experienced supervisor as well as completing a portfolio of evidence and an externally assessed paper to achieve this qualification.
This course leads to a high level (6) qualification from a leading and well respected awarding body (The Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body). We are proud to have their approval and support to run this programme and we look forward to being a part of your learning and development journey.
If you are interested in enrolling on to this programme, please contact us for an application form and to arrange a short interview. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have and look forward to meeting you.
