This is usually an 18 or 20 week course and will introduce you to the concepts and skills used in counselling. You will enjoy a mix of learning some basic theory, undertaking some self awareness activities and developing some enhanced communication skills.

This is great as a stand alone qualification for those who are venturing back into education or who are looking to develop a new career path. It is also a useful add-on qualification for professionals such as teachers, teaching assistants, customer services staff, carers, nurses, doctors and anyone else who requires enhanced listening and communication skills.

2. Establish and sustain the boundaries of the helping role
3. Work empathically as a helper
4. Focus on the helpee’s needs and concerns
5. Use self awareness in helping work
6. Use a range of counselling skills to facilitate the helping interaction
7. Use feedback and reflection to enhance counselling skills

Cost £499 (which includes approx £139 Registration and Certification fees for the awarding body)

Please note that you must be 18 years of age to study for this qualification. There are both internal and external assessments for this programme, we will help you to build a portfolio of your work throughout the duration of the course and you will also sit an external paper that is assessed by the awarding body. This is an important aspect of the learning process and we will provide lots of support and guidance to help you. If you have been out of education for a while this is an excellent course to get you 'back in the saddle' so to speak!

For those who complete this programme successfully and wish to continue training, there will be a Level 3 programme that follows on naturally from this course. We always aim to provide clear progression routes and opportunities.
