At Chapters we have a strong sense of the importance of helping... we usually support the human kind but when we heard about a lovely little place called Kays Hill Animal Sanctuary (a local charity), we decided to offer them a helping hand too.
The sanctuary take in a whole host of different animals but have a lot of cats that need love and care until they can be re-homed. Times are hard but the animals still need feeding so we decided to collect food on their behalf. Staff and students very generously donated into the collection and we were very proud to hand over the following to the sanctuary volunteer, becky who is just a wondeful person who works tirelessly fundraising and caring for the animals. We love you Becky x
We collected 4 large bags of dry food, 12 boxes of dry food, 24 tins and 126 pouches of cat food... Thank you to everyone who very kindly donated x
Then along came Easter! We just can't resist doing our little bit so when Bikewise advertised their Easter egg run for 2011 we decided to get involved. Durham police organise the event for bikers to ride between local hospitals to deliver Easter eggs to children who are sick over the Easter period. They also continue to collect eggs and money that gets distributed over the following week or so to children's units, hospices etc. What a fab thing for Chapters to do - especially as Sharon & her lovely hubby Peter can often be spotted riding around on a big throbbing Yamaha FJR 1300! Students very kindly donated 18 Easter eggs for us to contribute to the collection and we added a further 3 ourselves so there will be over 20 kids with chocolatey faces because of us this Easter! Thank you to the very generous students who contributed an egg, we appreciate your support xxx
